Julia Oram (1990), a Canadian inter-disciplinary artist based in Berlin, studied Communication Design and Photography at BTK University of Art & Design. Her previous works have been showcased throughout Berlin, Athens, and Canada, where she had the opportunity to take part in the following exhibitions: “Spotlight” (ACAD, Calgary 2018), “Give Art a Chance” (Haze Gallery, Berlin 2021), and “Was Machst Du Hier?” (Ohma Studio, Berlin 2022), “Athens Month of Art” (Studio747, Athens 2022), and “Synthesis of Nature” (NIO House, Berlin 2023).

Her wide range of influences and working methods includes chemigrams (a lesser-known way of painting using photography chemicals) as well as sculpture, a field she has been recently drawn into by trying to turn everyday objects into bigger and vibrant bigger-scale versions of themselves.
Julia’s love for painting and drawing has been with her since her childhood following her even after her artistic career took off starting with the sale of oil paintings and illustrations in her native Canada, paving the way which allowed her to pursue her dreams in Berlin.

Drawing inspiration from real-life encounters, Julia captures the essence of the ordinary and transforming into interesting artworks. Her work revolves around the intimate charm of analog, drawn from genuine life experiences. Balancing work and play, Julia allows her art to emerge organically from these meaningful situations, fuelling her pursuit of creative expression.

Her gained experience working in contemporary art galleries allowed her to develop solid skills when it comes to curating exhibitions. She aims to provide fellow artists with an authentic platform, granting them the freedom to voice their unique vision and gain recognition. She currently curated an exhibition called “Recycling Narratives” (Kunstquartier Bethanien, Berlin 2024) with 17 artists, that will contribute with mixed mediums, and founded Spencer&Jones Collective to which is hosting an upcoming exhibition held in Paris.
